Presentation Skills: Most presentations are perfectly competent, reasonably effective and perhaps not too memorable. However, as one of the most expensive forms of communication, presentations deserve to be exceptional.
There are many obstacles to this ranging from desire, experience and discomfort through to unclear focus, poor preparation and technique. If you are looking to improve your ability to present, then PE is a course that can help.
Potential Energy is that which something is considered to have due to its position in space. We use this definition as it reflects our beliefs about presentations both literally and metaphorically. Put simply, PE explains why you can’t ski down a mountain until you have climbed it. The energy of a presentation is born from its preparation, then later released through its delivery; its purpose being to enhance an audience’s sense of potential. Furthermore, in order to be truly effective, both presenter and presentation must be capable of employing and delivering high performance.
By focussing on principles of effective presentation over two days, participants will explore the full complement of internal and external resources available to them, and identify and enhance their own individual style. In this experiential course, participants
will spend time creating and delivering presentations, offering and receiving constructive
feedback, and will leave the course with a clearer idea of how to tailor their future presentations to better exploit their natural talents.
Potential Energy is available as a two-day course for between 8 and 12 participants, as a one-day course for between 6 and 8 participants and as a three hour lecture for as many participants as can be logistically accommodated.
Island 41 also offers Potential Energy as a two day open course
